PTPN14 may interact with the vascularendothelial growth factor receptor 3 (VEGFR3), a receptor tyrosine kinase essential forlymphangiogenesis, suggesting a conserved role for PTPN14 in the regulation of lymphaticdevelopment in mammals and a nonconserved role in choanal development in humans. Defects inPTPN14 are a cause of choanal atresia and lymphedema (CHATLY).
