Rabbit polyclonal to DNMT2.DNA (cytosine-5)-methyltransferase-like protein 2 (DNMT2) is also known as tRNA (cytosine(38)-C(5))-methyltransferase (TRDMT1), which belongs to the C5-methyltransferase family. DNMTs isresponsible for the methylation of aspartic acid transfer RNA, specifically at the cytosine-38 residue inthe anticodon loop. This enzyme also possesses residual DNA-(cytosine-C5) methyltransferaseactivity. While similar in sequence and structure to DNA cytosine methyltransferases, DNMT2 isdistinct and highly conserved in its function.
