In Vivo

METHODS: Wistar rats were treated intravenously with Fludrocortisone （Florinef） (5 and 20 μg/kg). The effects of a single dose of fludrocortisone on systolic blood pressure in normal and endotoxemic rats were evaluated until 2 h after treatment injection and in vitro vasoconstriction to phenylephrine in mesenteric artery rings 3 h after treatment. RESULTS Fludrocortisone increased systolic blood pressure (P < 0.001), but more in endotoxemic than in normal animals. Fludrocortisone significantly improved the contractile response to phenylephrine (P = 0.039 and P = 0.007, respectively).
