Rabbit polyclonal to PIAS3.Protein inhibitor of activated STAT3 (PIAS3) is a member of the PIAS proteins. The mammalian PIASfamily is composed of four proteins: PIAS1, PIAS2 (PIASx), PIAS3, and PIAS4 (PIASy). PIAS proteinsfunction as E3 small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) ligases, which facilitate the conjugation of SUMOto the specific protein substrates. PIAS3 has been shown to play important roles in the transcriptionalregulation of various cellular pathways, including STAT, SMAD and the steroid hormone signalingpathways. The effects of this transcriptional co-regulation, transactivation or silencing, may varydepending upon the biological context.
