This action inhibits downstream NADPH oxidase activation and superoxide production, offering a mechanism to reduce neuronal injury in models of stroke and epilepsy, as evidenced in both in vitro and in vivo studies.

In Vivo
Tat-NR2B9c (10 nmol/g, IV) reduced infarct volume by 24.5% and 26.0% following 30 and 60 minutes of tMCAO, respectively, but had no effect on mice at a dose of 3 nM/g.
In Vitro
Similar to the NR2 subunits, Tat-NR2B9c binds to PSD-95d1 and PSD-95d2, and this binding is independent of PDZ interactions, with respective ED50 values of 0.67 μM and 0.067 μM.
